How the Leaderboard Works

Every entry comes from a real test session by a signed-in player. When you finish a test while logged in, your result is saved automatically; only your single best score per test is shown, stamped with the month it was set.

Scores are screened against known human performance limits before being ranked. The Reaction Time test uses performance.now() for sub-millisecond precision, and submissions below the ~100ms physiological floor for simple visual reaction are rejected as impossible. Similarly, Typing Speed scores above 300 WPM are not accepted.

Anonymous scores are saved locally in your browser but never appear here. Create a free account for leaderboard attribution, score history, and percentile tracking over time. Learn more about scoring methodology on the Science page.

Reading the Board

Speed tests (Reaction Time, Aim Trainer, Audio RT) rank lower scores first โ€” milliseconds to respond. Capacity tests (Number Memory, Digit Span, Sequence Memory) rank higher scores first โ€” how much you can hold.

Each test's page shows a score guide with typical ranges from published research, so you can see how a record compares to the general population โ€” see for example what counts as a good reaction time or a good typing speed.

Leaderboard FAQ

Do I need an account to appear on the leaderboard?
Yes โ€” anonymous scores are saved locally to your browser but are not attributed to a public profile. Sign up for free to have your best scores appear here automatically.
How often is the leaderboard updated?
Continuously. Scores are saved the moment a signed-in player finishes a test, and rankings refresh within a few minutes.
Why is my score not on here?
Make sure you were signed in when you finished the test โ€” anonymous results stay in your browser only. Physiologically impossible results (e.g. reaction times under 100ms or typing above 300 WPM) are rejected by anomaly screening. Rankings can also take a few minutes to refresh after a new score.
Can I improve my score with practice?
Yes โ€” significantly, for most tests. Reaction Time improves 10โ€“15% with consistent warm-up practice. Typing Speed can improve 30โ€“50 WPM with deliberate training. See the Science page for evidence-based improvement strategies.
Are the records really human?
Every score comes from a real logged-in test session, and submissions outside physiologically possible ranges are automatically rejected. No scores are seeded, imported, or invented.
How do I challenge a specific leaderboard record?
Take the test, beat the score, and make sure you're logged into your account. Your best result is ranked automatically โ€” there's no manual submission process.
