Terms of Service
Last updated: April 22, 2025. These terms govern your use of Human Benchmark.
Key points: Human Benchmark is a free cognitive testing tool provided for educational and personal use only. It is not a medical service. You must be 13 or older to create an account. Do not automate or manipulate test submissions. Your scores are your own data. We can modify or terminate the service at any time.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Human Benchmark website at humanbenchmark.now (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Human Benchmark ("Human Benchmark", "we", "us"). The Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.
Your use of the Service is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.
2. Service Description
Human Benchmark provides browser-based cognitive tests based on validated paradigms from experimental neuropsychology. The Service is provided for educational, entertainment, and personal research purposes only.
Test results from Human Benchmark do not constitute a clinical evaluation, diagnosis, or medical opinion. Scores should not be used to diagnose, treat, or manage any medical or psychological condition. If you have concerns about your cognitive health, please consult a licensed neuropsychologist, psychiatrist, or physician.
The core tests are free to use without registration. Premium features (including score history, trends, and leaderboard participation) may require creating a free account. We do not currently charge for any features, but reserve the right to introduce paid tiers in the future with reasonable notice.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
3. Accounts
Account security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at [email protected]. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain account security.
Accurate information
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating an account. You may not create an account using a false identity, impersonate another person, or create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions.
One account per person
Each individual may maintain only one account. Creating additional accounts to inflate your leaderboard ranking or circumvent account termination constitutes a violation of these Terms and may result in permanent ban of all associated accounts.
4. Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account or register on Human Benchmark. In jurisdictions where the minimum age for consent to data processing is higher (e.g., 16 in certain EU member states), you must meet that higher threshold.
Users aged 13-17 represent that they have obtained verifiable parental or guardian consent where required by applicable law.
Anonymous test-taking (without an account) does not require registration and carries no age restriction, though the Service is not specifically designed for children under 13.
5. Acceptable Use
You may use Human Benchmark only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Using bots, scripts, macros, or any automated means to submit test scores is strictly prohibited and results in immediate account termination.
Attempting to manipulate your scores or the scores of others through any technical means, including modifying HTTP requests, intercepting API calls, or timing manipulation.
Decompiling, disassembling, or reverse-engineering the scoring algorithms, test logic, or any part of the Service for commercial replication or redistribution.
Using crawlers, scrapers, or data mining tools to extract leaderboard data, user profiles, or aggregate statistics at scale without our written permission.
Conducting denial-of-service attacks, introducing malware, or attempting to gain unauthorized access to our servers, databases, or user accounts.
Violations of the acceptable use policy may result in immediate account suspension or permanent termination without notice, and may be reported to law enforcement where appropriate.
6. Your Data and Content
Your test scores remain your own data. You retain ownership of your individual score history and can request an export or deletion at any time.
By submitting test scores to Human Benchmark, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, aggregate, and anonymise your scores for the purpose of computing population statistics, improving the accuracy of percentile rankings, and publishing aggregate research findings. This licence is necessary to operate the core features of the Service.
The display name you choose for your account will be visible on the public leaderboard. Choose a display name that you are comfortable making public and that does not contain personal information you wish to keep private.
7. Intellectual Property
The Human Benchmark name, logo, test designs, user interface, visual design, written content, and all other materials on the Service are owned by Human Benchmark or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not include the right to reproduce, distribute, create derivative works from, sell, or commercially exploit any part of the Service.
Educational and journalistic use, including sharing screenshots of your own test results or referencing Human Benchmark in academic work, is permitted with appropriate attribution.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information on the Service, including test results and percentile rankings.
Test results are subject to the inherent limitations of browser-based measurement, including display refresh rate variability, input device latency, network conditions, and user state (fatigue, distraction, caffeine intake, etc.). A single-session result should not be interpreted as a definitive measure of cognitive ability.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL HUMAN BENCHMARK, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES.
This limitation applies regardless of whether such liability arises under contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other theory, and regardless of whether we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. In no event shall our total liability to you exceed one hundred US dollars (USD $100).
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, third parties, or the integrity of the Service.
You may terminate your account at any time by requesting deletion via the contact form or by emailing [email protected]. Upon termination, your account data and linked scores will be deleted within 30 days.
All provisions of the Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.
11. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Human Benchmark is headquartered, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Before initiating any formal legal proceeding, you agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at [email protected]. We will make good faith efforts to resolve the dispute within 30 days of receiving notice.
If you are an EEA consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory local consumer protection law, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for registered users, by sending a notification email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service before the effective date.
