What is a good Color Blindness Test score?

Color vision deficiency affects L-cone (protanopia), M-cone (deuteranopia), or S-cone (tritanopia) function. Ishihara plates were developed in 1917 and remain the clinical standard. Complete color blindness (achromatopsia) is extremely rare (~1 in 33,000).
What does the Color Blindness Test test measure?
The Color Blindness test uses Ishihara-style pseudoisochromatic plates to screen for color vision deficiencies. Numbers or patterns are embedded in dots of varying hue and saturation. People with red-green deficiency (deuteranopia or protanopia, affecting ~8% of males) cannot distinguish the hidden number. This is a screening tool, not a clinical diagnosis.
How to improve your Color Blindness Test score
- โ Take the test with good ambient lighting - dim or colored light skews results.
- โ Don't squint or modify your screen colors (no Night Shift / blue light filters).
