The Corsi Block Tapping Test has been used since 1972 to measure visuospatial working memory. Sequence memory span is predominantly right-hemisphere and parietal-lobe mediated, in contrast to digit span which relies more on left-hemisphere language areas.
What does the Sequence Memory test measure?
Sequence Memory is inspired by the classic Simon game and the Corsi Block Tapping Test. A sequence of squares flashes in order; you must reproduce it exactly. After each correct reproduction the sequence grows by one. It tests your visuospatial short-term memory span - your ability to hold and replay spatial sequences.
How to improve your Sequence Memory score
- โ Assign verbal labels to tile positions (e.g., "top-left, center, bottom-right") - this recruits both spatial and verbal memory.
- โ Group sequences into chunks of 3 when they grow long.
- โ Don't rush. Take time to solidify the sequence mentally before clicking.
- โ Regular practice 10 min/day can increase your level by 3โ5 within a month.
