|---|---|

The MoCA has 90% sensitivity and 87% specificity for detecting Mild Cognitive Impairment. It takes approximately 10 minutes and is now preferred over the MMSE for early detection because it is more sensitive to subtle executive and memory deficits.
What does the MoCA Cognitive Test test measure?
The MoCA (Montreal Cognitive Assessment) is a validated 30-point clinical screening tool that tests eight cognitive domains: visuospatial ability, naming, attention, language, abstraction, delayed recall, and orientation. It was designed by Dr. Ziad Nasreddine and is used globally to detect mild cognitive impairment. Our digital version mirrors the standard MoCA protocol.
How to improve your MoCA Cognitive Test score
- โ This is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. A score below 26 warrants professional evaluation, not alarm.
- โ Education level affects scores - those with โค12 years of education add 1 point to their score.
- โ Take the test when rested and alert - fatigue can artificially suppress scores by 2โ3 points.
- โ If concerned about your score, speak with your primary care physician about a formal assessment.
