What is raw mouse input and does it matter for gaming?
Raw mouse input bypasses the Windows mouse pointer system entirely, reading directly from the mouse sensor. Without raw input, Windows applies its own pointer acceleration curves — meaning the same physical mouse movement produces different cursor distances depending on speed. This destroys muscle memory consistency.
With raw input enabled, your mouse behaves linearly: 2 inches of physical movement always equals the same cursor distance, regardless of how fast you move. This is the foundation of consistent aim — every flick to the same point takes the same physical movement.
How to enable: In Windows: Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse → Additional mouse settings → Pointer Options → uncheck "Enhance pointer precision." In-game: enable "Raw Input" in mouse settings. Both are required.
If you've been playing with enhanced pointer precision enabled, expect a short adjustment period after disabling it. Your aim will feel different but will become more consistent within 1–2 weeks. The Aim Trainer test uses raw browser mouse input and is a good consistency baseline to test before and after making this change.

Quick Answer
Raw input bypasses Windows mouse acceleration and pointer speed settings, reading directly from the mouse sensor. It is essential for consistent aim — acceleration curves change how the same physical movement translates to cursor movement, destroying muscle memory.
